The Difference Between Hemp Oil and CBD Oil
Understanding the difference between hemp oil and CBD oil can be very confusing. In this article, we seek to clear up some of that confusion so that you are educated about the type of products that are available.
Let’s start by explaining the 3 major types of products:
-
Hempseed Oil – hempseed oil is extracted from the seeds of the hemp plant. Hemp oil is full of health nutrients and is commonly used in cooking and as a natural skin moisturizer. It contains only trace amounts of CBD and THC so cannot be expected to deliver any of the medicinal benefits of CBD. If you are buying hemp oil on Amazon, you are purchasing hempseed oil since Amazon does not allow the sale of products with CBD on its website.
-
CBD Hemp OIl – cannabis oil extracted from the hemp plant contains CBD. Many people have seen medicinal benefits from CBD hemp oil products, including those suffering from chronic pain, anxiety and arthritis. CBD hemp oil contains only trace amounts of THC so it does not get you “high.” These products are legal in all 50 U.S. states but not currently regulated by the FDA so product quality and the amount of CBD can vary widely by seller. We recommend only buying from reputable sellers to avoid getting a substandard product.
-
CBD Marijuana Oil – cannabis oil extracted from the marijuana plant contains CBD and THC. CBD oil from marijuana contains the most complete set of cannabinoids (chemical compounds) that can provide medicinal benefits. Since they contain THC, these products are considered Schedule 1 drugs and are only legal in states with progressive medical marijuana laws.
